Bachelor Of Science [B.Sc]

SP College is a science college and is running undergraduate course in Sciences only. Besides English the science subjects offered by the College are Zoology, Botany, Bio-Technology, Biochemistry Environment & Water Management, Geography, Geology, Chemistry, Physics, Electronics, Mathematics, Statistics , Information Technology. The combination of these subjects is given under the subject combination menu. The admission to this course is done on first come first serve basis in the month of March each year. The examination is conducted by the University of Kashmir on annual basis.

Bachelor Of Science in IT [B.Sc-IT]

The college is running under graduate course in Information Technology which is the only undergraduate course of semester basis. The course comprise 6 semesters with an intake capacity of 60 students per year. The selection process is done by the University of Kashmir on merit basis. The examination is conducted by the University of Kashmir in the month of July-August and December-January.

PG Chemistry

  • History

    The department of chemistry of the college has always been the major department of the college. It used to have as many as 25 regular teaching faculty members and almost same number of non teaching members as well.
    The department houses three spacious laboratories, one relatively smaller laboratory and one computer lab as well.
    The teaching faculty of the department at present includes young & energetic and experienced members which include four PhDs, three M Phils and four NET qualified members.
    The department of chemistry intends to launch BSc. Forensics in future, proposal for which has already been submitted to administrative department for approval.
    The College is running P G programme in chemistry since 2005 quite successfully. A number of pass outs of the department have qualified NET, SET and GATE examinations. Some of them are involved in research in the institutions of repute. The selection process is done by the Kashmir University on merit basis. The intake capacity is 13 students per year. The course is semester basis comprising 4b semesters.

    The P.G. Department of Environmental Sciences at Sri Pratap College was formally established in 2003.The first batch post-graduated in 2005.
    College is running P G programme in Environmental Sciences since 2003 quite successfully. A number of pass outs of the department have qualified NET, SET and GATE examinations. Some of them are involved in research in the institutions of repute. The selection process is done by the Kashmir University on merit basis. The intake capacity is 16 students per year. The course is semester basis comprising 4 semesters.

    The department is currently dealing with the teaching of Post graduate course in environmental sciences.

  • Library Facilities

    The department currently has approx. 550 books on diverse topics related to environmental sciences and reference books and manuals to suffice for the research needs of the students and faculty.

  • Laboratory

    The Department has spacious modern laboratories equipped with all the necessary equipments required for the environmental analysis. Advanced potable kits for all kinds of field studies are available in the department.

  • Computer/Internet

    The Department has all necessary computer and internet facilities available for the students to access all relevant updated information in electronic format including online Journals, e-books and encyclopaedias.

  • Research

    The students are assigned M.Sc projects in their third semester the dissertations are to be submitted at the end of fourth semester examinations.

  • Eco-outings

    The department conducts tours and one-day trips to various places of ecological interest in and outside the state.

  • Environmental

    The students are promoted to conduct ecological as well as socio-economic surveys on degraded ecosystems as well as neglected areas of the state in order to inculcate an aptitude of research in them, besides encouraging such studies which develop in them a sense of responsible citizenship. The students are encouraged to participate in Conferences, workshops, seminars, symposiums and competitions.
